Hutt Valley Commuter by Phil Dickson

This painting is based on a photograph taken in 1950 and shows a WW class locomotive pulling commuter carriages leaving Wellington. This is shortly before steam was replaced by electric units on the Hutt Valley line.

 

Phil Dickson has lived in Wellington all his life and is known for his Wellington scenes and historical images in watercolours and oils.
