Commissioning a Painting
Most artists exhibiting with Kiwi Art House will paint on commission. The advantages of a commission are you get to contribute to the subject and composition of your painting. You may want a portrait, a painting of your pet, a scene of your house or all three combined! A commission can also be made to the size you want and your budget.
Examples of commissions from Kiwi Art House Gallery artists include, an oil of a family walking along Oriental Bay in Wellington by Zad Jabbour, a watercolour of husband and wife in Wellington's Cuba Mall by Dianne Taylor, a watercolour of a South Island sheep station where a wedding was held, by George Thompson, a scene of the Marlborough sounds for a wedding gift, by Dianne Taylor, a Wellington villa and neighbouring houses for the home owner, by George Thompson.
Prices and Payment. Prices are usually close to whatever the artist normally charges for similar sized work. A 10% deposit is required that is not refundable and the balance is paid for once the client is happy with the painting.
With a commission you also choose the style of art you prefer when selecting the artist. The following artists are the most popular for commissions.
Zad Jabbour - a realism style master. An expert at portraits and animals. Paints in oil
George Thompson - can paint in a representational or interpretive style in watercolour or acrylic.
Dianne Taylor - Watercolour artist, specialises in urban scenes.
Alfred Memelink - Watercolour artist specialising in foreshore and Wellington scenes.
A beautiful portrait painting can capture the true essence of a loved one - their spark of life, far better than a photograph. Such a painting becomes a family treasure to last a lifetime and down future generations.
