Although named after the Manfield car racetrack ths painting is also a tribute to Katherine Mansfield. The writer left New Zealand when she was young, and is likewise absent from the painting. Her life is represented by the female figures and literature and writing by the Jack Kerouac book, 'On the Road', one of the inspirations for Heimler and Proc's On the Road exhibition and series.
