Iwen Yong

From Wellington and now living in the Wairarapa, Iwen Yong has been influenced by the art of Peter MacIntyre, Douglas Badcock and John Crump, who mentored Iwen as he learned the techniques of landscapes and plein air painting.

'I paint a variety of subjects but I specialise predominately in landscapes. I would describe my painting style as 'painterly realism'. I try to be expressive and bold with my brushwork to create a sense of movement in my paintings. I have been a full time artist since 2021 and I regularly exhibit in galleries in Wellington, Napier, Dunedin and Queenstown'
